HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS.......BY TRYING!

The definition of success in any business is highly subjective.  Succeeding by luck can happen, just as you can buy a lottery ticket.  Being in the right place at the right time certainly makes a difference.  But most success in business comes through steady conscious effort with a goal in mind.

A psychotherapy practice is a small business, usually with a sole proprietor.  For some practitioners these very words can cause shivers of anxiety: Can helping be a business? In fact, for some, business is essentially a dirty word.  They claim to be notoriously “bad with money” and feel at the mercy of managed care, the economy, not to mention their own emotional conflicts around money, achievement and/or competition.

A business plan is a road map that you create to guide you to your goals.  It helps you make conscious decisions based on your professional and personal needs in ways that suit your personality and work style.  This workshop is an introduction to business planning for therapists who are already in private practice.  Participants will learn

  • The importance of measurable, attainable goals
  • A basic understanding of the use of business strategies to achieve the goals
  • How to turn a strategy into an achievable action
  • How to divide these actions into steps on a timeline

This workshop will cover the basics of your psychotherapy practice as a business.  We will begin with identifying and setting measurable and achievable goals, developing strategies to meet the goals and creating concrete tactics or steps that bring the strategies to life.  You will learn tools that will help you plan and manage your practice – that will help you answer questions from “how do I develop a niche?” to “how do I increase my income?”
